I would say that new borns are easier to take care of in that they are not very mobile at that age, my Henry is now walking and with an older brother and sister he tries to keep up with them lol.
I think the most important thing to watch out for are the falls, she'll do alot of that when she starts sitting, cruising, and walking, also if you have stairs, get a gate, can't tell you how many times my he's tried to fly down the stairs, but I am sure you will do just great, mothering does come naturally :).
