Because most hospital stays (provided everything is all right with the mother)are limited to a day or two, hospitals advice only one bag to prevent theft or loss of items.

Secondly, for personal reasons or preferences, most expectant mothers can’t have the father present so “labor coach” is more commonly used and that can be the baby’s father, grandmother, sister or even brother, it all depends.
