Anesthesia

I had an epidural during my first delivery and it went off without a hitch the second delivery really has me scared about asking for anesthesia this time.

My water was broken around 7:30 pm and I started active labor (without pitocin, thank goodness) around 9:00pm and asked for an epidural and it all went downhill from there.

Every time I’d get a contraction my back and left leg went numb with pain, if that baby hadn’t come out 15 minutes later I would have gotten upset with someone in that room.

The anesthesiologist was in the room the whole time and kept telling me “it’s not supposed to hurt….. blah blah” and with the pain I’ve been having in my back recently I’m really considering not asking for an epidural at all.

I am thinking of alternative methods this time around; aromatherapy, homeopathy, hypnobirthing and water birth.
